Miracles

Miracles do happen!

When people think of miracles, they think of a loved one with terminal cancer getting healed, a traffic accident where the person should have died but lived with just a bump or a bruise. The miracles that we don't think about, we live with every day. Waking up in the morning to a spectacular sunrise, the birds singing, a warm wind blowing. Being Alive! These small things are all miracles from God Himself! Our world is ravaged by war. Did you know that there has never been a time when there was not a war going on in some part of the world ever since record keeping began! It is a miracle that we live in a place where there is no war. We can walk down the street without a sniper taking us out. We can take our children to the park without a tank driving by with armed guards.
Take some time and write down all the miracles in your life. My miracle is my children. When they come to visit me, it brings joy to my heart and I feel alive again. I feel God's hand on my life every day. Please do not ignore his miracles!

Never give up!

Don't be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs.  Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger.  If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.  ~Dale Carnegie

I remember that I have a client who absolutely refused to advertise with me at my place of work for reasons that shall go unexplained. I spent 2 years calling him, following up, discussing, just going around and around on something that seemed absolutely fruitless. This customer just would not give in to a good thing! After more than 200 contacts with this client, I was finally able to sit down with him in person. He ended up buying more than $2,000.00 worth of advertising from me! If I would have given up after he told me no those first 3 times, I would never have succeeded and I never would have gotten the sale. Be persistant, never give up! It's those that keep trying after falling down so many times that are successful!

Depression

Do you experience any of these symptoms:
  • you can’t sleep or you sleep too much
  • you can’t concentrate or find that previously easy tasks are now difficult
  • you feel hopeless and helpless
  • you can’t control your negative thoughts, no matter how much you try
  • you have lost your appetite or you can’t stop eating
  • you are much more irritable and short-tempered than usual
  • you have thoughts that life is not worth living (Seek help immediately if this is the case)
If you are experiencing any of these, you may be suffering from depression.

I have struggled with depression my entire life. Going through my divorce many of these symptoms have surfaced over the past year. It is a horrible condition, but it is treatable. You are not alone. 1 in 6 people will be diagnosed with depression.

I have learned through my struggles, that it is a part of my life that I need to learn to live with. It is very manageable as well. Seek out help from a licensed therapist or counselor they will be able to give you the tools to deal with your depression. Depression will not go away by itself, but with help, you can get through it and live a normal, happy life!

Taking the Toxic out of your life

One of my brother's favorite quotes: “Your success in life depends 5% on what happens to you and 95% on how you react to it”

I personally have been struggling a lot lately on taking my own advice. It's funny that I have had to read my own blog to get back on track. Life is hard sometimes and that is when you really have to reach into the inner part of your soul to yank out the positive so it can knock down the negative and get you centered again. There are so many people out there that we are surrounded by that are very toxic. When you encounter these people, stay away from them. They will do nothing but bring you down. But, I do need to mention that if given the opportunity, we should do something nice for them even if it is just to smile. This may be all they need to turn their mood around!

Lean on one another

Through my divorce, I have found myself being too prideful. I have always been a giver, not a taker, which is great because that is how I was raised, but through tough times, I have been learning to lean on the people that God has placed in my life. I have learned to look at it a different way. When a loved one or friend reaches out to lend me a hand, I instead think of it as God reaching out His hand to me and saying "Take from My hand child, you ARE deserving of My love."

God wants us to have an enriched and blessed life if we live through Him. Please do not ignore his blessings!

Hope

Angie Dickinson put it very well in her writings,
"Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul"

Without hope, we all feel lost. It is a longing for something that we don't have. A lust for the unreachable, the untouchable. We "hope" to see our loved ones again, we "hope" to find true love....
But, I can tell you, that hope can and will turn into reality. If you give it all you have, your hopes and dreams will come to fruition.

You just have to have HOPE!

Gone where?Gone from my sight, that is all...

This is a great poem to help us that have gone or are going through the death of a loved one, to cope. I pray that it helps you on your journey and that it gives you peace.

I am standing on the sea shore.A ship sails to the morning breeze and starts for the ocean. She is an object of beauty and I stand watching her till at last she fades on the horizon, and someone at my side says, "she is gone."Gone where?Gone from my sight, that is all: she is just as large in the masts, hull and spars as she was when I saw her, and just as able to bear her load of living freight to its destination. The diminished size and total loss of sight is in me, not her: and just at the moment when someone at my side says, "she is gone," there are others who are watching her coming, and other voices take up a glad shout, "there she comes!"

Gumption!

Everything you do in life, do with Gumption!

Live life to the fullest, Dive out of your comfort zone and take chances, Live, Dance, Love! Be kind to everyone you meet, smile at your enemies.

We are only human, and we all have faults, but in order to be a well rounded person and be the best you can be, we all should practice the above. Success and happiness comes from within, no one can make you successful and happy, you have to want that for yourself.

Have you ever noticed that there are certain days when you talk to people and everyone says that it has been a long week, or that it has been "one of those days?" Well, we are all connected. If one person is negative or is having a bad day, it trickles down to everyone else until everyone else is feeling the same way. So, I challenge you, that when you talk to people and they say they have a bad day, to smile at them and let them know that you are having a wonderful day. This will stop the chain of negativity.

The same goes with success and living life with gumption. If people see your drive and your gumption and your confidence, then it will trickle down and doors will open up for you! It is impossible for positive to be in the same room as negative.

So live with gumption and make it a great day!

Sleep

Sleep is something we all take for granted, but it is one of the most important things in our lives. If your car ran non-stop 24 hours 7 days a week, it would eventually run out of gas and stop working, well, your body is the same way.

Here is a write up from the Washington Post outlining how a lack of sleep can influence your health in ways that are not so great:

"A large, new study, for example, provides the latest in a flurry of evidence suggesting that the nation's obesity epidemic is being driven, at least in part, by a corresponding decrease in the average number of hours that Americans are sleeping, possibly by disrupting hormones that regulate appetite. The analysis of a nationally representative sample of nearly 10,000 adults found that those between the ages of 32 and 49 who sleep less than seven hours a night are significantly more likely to be obese.

The study follows a series of others that have found similar associations with other illnesses, including several reports from the Harvard-run Nurses' Health Study that has linked insufficient or irregular sleep to increased risk for colon cancer, breast cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Other research groups scattered around the country have subsequently found clues that might explain the associations, indications that sleep disruption affects crucial hormones and proteins that play roles in these diseases."

The Tara Approach

We all have the ability to make a change within ourselves. This includes self healing through touch. It is called the "Tara Approach." My mom went to a 2 day seminar about the Tara Approach and she says it is incredible. I have been implementing some of the techniques to my own life and they have been working wonders! I am calmer, more relaxed and just all around centered. I urge you to visit Stephanie Mines' website to learn more about this amazing technique. I know that it changes lives!

Let us not forget their sacrifices

I am very proud of this photo I took of the honor guard.

The honor and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform should never go unnoticed. Freedom rings loud and strong because of our soldiers. Let us never forget!

Unconditional Love

What would we do without our parents? The unconditional love that they show us is remarkable. I know that I am not deserving of it, but I'll take it!

I know that there are those out there that have not had the best childhoods growing up and their parents have not always been there for them. I hope that whoever you are that you are able to show gratitude and be thankful to the people that have been there for you, whoever they are. God puts people in our lives to help us through the ups and downs no matter what form they come in.

Here is a heartfelt story about the unconditional love of a mother, I hope you enjoy it!

A little boy came up to his mother in the kitchen one evening while she was fixing supper, and handed her a piece of paper that he had been writing on. After she dried her hands on an apron, she read it, and this is what it said:

For cutting the grass:
$5.00
For cleaning up my room this week:
$1.00
For going to the store for you:
$.50
Baby-sitting my kid brother while you went shopping:
$.25
Taking out the garbage:
$1.00
For getting a good report card:
$5.00
For cleaning up and raking the yard:
$2.00
Total owed:
$14.75

Well, his mother looked at him standing there, and the boy could see the memories flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned over the paper he'd written on, and this is what she wrote:

For the nine months I carried you while you were growing inside me:
No Charge

For all the nights that I've sat up with you, doctored and prayed for you:
No Charge

For all the trying times, and all the tears that you've caused through the years:
No Charge

For all the nights that were filled with dread, and for the worries I knew were ahead:
No Charge

For the toys, food, clothes, and even wiping your nose:
No Charge

Son, when you add it up, the cost of my love is:
No Charge.

When the boy finished reading what his mother had written, there were big tears in his eyes, and he looked straight at his mother and said,
"Mom, I sure do love you." And then he took the pen and in great big letters he wrote: "PAID IN FULL"

JUST BREATH!

LIFE IS GOOD!... I guarantee that if you take a deep breath first thing in the morning and say those words to yourself your whole day will be great.

Breathing is very important in relaxing. There have been times in my life that I have forgotten to breath when I am in a panic, I have had to force myself to take deep breaths and to relax.

Sometimes in this crazy world we live in, don't you think our brains need a break even if it is for a couple of minutes. You owe it to yourself. We pay doctors, therapists, masseuses, and chiropractors thousands of dollars a year for some relief from the everyday grind. So isn't it great to know that you can heal yourself by doing something so simple as taking a deep breath!

Make it a great day!

The Secret.... Another tool to help live the best life you can!

I am constantly looking for ways to improve everything about myself. My mind, body and soul. The number one source I go to is God, but another tool I found is "The Secret." The following is an excerpt from the website. The Secret is not for everyone, but I hope it helps you on your journey to enlightenment. I have had huge success when I apply the Secret to my life and I hope it helps you as well.....

The Secret reveals the most powerful law in the universe. The knowledge of this law has run like a golden thread through the lives and the teachings of all the prophets, seers, sages and saviors in the world's history, and through the lives of all truly great men and women. All that they have ever accomplished or attained has been done in full accordance with this most powerful law. Without exception, every human being has the ability to transform any weakness or suffering into strength, power, perfect peace, health, and abundance. Rhonda Byrne's discovery of The Secret began with a glimpse of the truth through a 100 year old book. She went back through centuries, tracing and uncovering a common truth that lay at the core of the most powerful philosophies, teachings and religions in the world. What Rhonda discovered is now captured in The Secret, a film that has been viewed by millions around the world. The Secret has also been released as an audio-book and printed book with more than six million copies in print. The Secret reveals the natural law that is governing all lives. By applying the knowledge of this law, you can change every aspect of your life. This is the secret to prosperity, health, relationships and happiness. This is the secret to life.

If Only I would have...

Someone once told me, "Tim, if you did the best that you could and gave it your all then you did not fail." Then why did I still feel regret about so many things. Because I am human! I was my own worst critic, so when something didn't work out in my life, I immediately blamed myself.
Now today, when I am feeling down about something or feeling regret, I tell myself that I did the best I could and I put the rest on God's shoulder to dispose of. We all make mistakes in life and everyone has a history, but it is up to each of us to let it go, move on, and live life to the fullest. As long as you gave it your all, you are doing Great! There is no need to live in the past. Did you know that you use more muscles to frown than to smile? Spend your energy on the positive instead of the negative and I promise you, the road will be much smoother for you.

Make it a great day!

Grief

There is not one person in this world that has not experienced some sort of loss in their life. Whether it is a best friend moving away, a divorce, or the death of a loved one. I lost my brother in the Iraq war on December 24th, 2003. It was the most painful, devastating event in my life. In one split second, so many lives were changed including mine. It took many years to come to a point in my life where I could remember the great times. I felt my soul breath. My relationships were stronger, my mind was stronger. There were a lot of factors that went into my healing process. God is the #1 factor, and coming in at a close 2nd was family. God touched my heart to tell me to not look at what killed my brother, but to look at his life as a whole and what he taught me. He was an amazing man and what an insult it would have been if I just focused on his murder. He had so much more to offer. All of our loved ones do! Every single person is in our life to show us something and to teach us something. Whether it be bad or good. Any believer knows that there is only one purpose to life... to serve God and to make our way Home eventually right? Then why don't we use the advice and lessons that people in our life tell us so that we can grow from that. That is my advice for helping to cope with Grief and Loss. But, I do need to point out that there is a lot more to it than that. If anyone would like to visit with me if your going through a hard time, please give me a call or e-mail me, I would love to help you on your journey! Make it a great day!

Isabelle and Arianna

Had a great time taking Isabelle and Arianna's pictures. They were very excited to have their picture taken in their princess dresses!

Standing Still

I would like to start out by giving these words of advice. " To not change is more painful than the change itself." These words are so true. We all go through struggles in life and it is hard to travel outside of your comfort zone. But we all must do this in order to grow spiritually. God will make it happen for you and will make the road easy if it is his will for you. In this world of chaos and hectic schedules, we all need to take the time to stand still and listen to God's voice. Only then will he show you his true majesty and grace! Make it a great day!
